ギリシャのメシニア県カラマタ地方で栽培されるオリーブで、ヨーロッパでは最も人気のあるオリーブの一つ。
グリーンオリーブより柔らかく、とってもフルーティー。
ギリシャサラダのトッピングとして、またはそのままおつまみとして、チーズやパン、オリーブオイルとの相性は抜群です。
また、ワインやお酒のおつまみとして事前にオリーブの実を1〜2粒食べておくと、おなかの中でオリーブから出る油が膜を張り、悪酔いしません。
These olives are grown in the Kalamata region of Messinia, Greece, and are among the most popular olives in Europe.
Softer than green olives and wonderfully fruity in flavor. Perfect as a topping for Greek salad or enjoyed on their own, they pair beautifully with cheese, bread, and olive oil.
They also make an excellent snack with wine or other drinks—eating just one or two olives beforehand helps create a natural layer of oil in the stomach, which can prevent getting tipsy too quickly.
